Online Hub Team Leader

The Air Ambulance Service provides two very important functions, Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) and The Children’s Air Ambulance (TCAA) which provides paediatric transfers across the UK.  Our objective is to save lives, utilising specialist pilots, doctors, and paramedics and with our work centered on saving lives, improving clinical outcomes and being able to react quickly and efficiently to emergencies.

Job Purpose

The Online Hub Team Leader is responsible for the day-to-day operation of a regional online retail hub within our Rotor Hub and Blade model. Reporting to the Online Manager, the postholder ensures donated stock is selected, listed, and dispatched efficiently and effectively to maximise income.

The role combines hands-on delivery with team leadership, embedding our core values of Compassion (through inclusive leadership and supporter service), Courage (by embracing change and taking initiative), and Creativity (by optimising listings and improving local processes) in all aspects of operation.


Key Responsibilities
Operational Delivery
• Lead the daily running of the regional online hub with a hands-on approach that models courageous accountability and service excellence.
• Ensure donated stock is sorted, photographed, listed, and dispatched in line with TAAS quality standards and timelines.
• Produce engaging, accurate listings that reflect the uniqueness of items, using creativity to optimise visibility and pricing.
• Manage inventory flow and order fulfilment with attention to detail, ensuring customer satisfaction and minimal delays.
• Handle customer queries and returns with compassionate communication and adherence to platform and charity policy.

People Leadership
• Provide daily guidance and support to any staff and volunteers based at the hub, promoting a respectful and inclusive culture.
• Delegate tasks fairly and motivate the team to achieve high-quality, high-volume output.
• Encourage ideas, feedback, and skill-building among the team—demonstrating creative and confident leadership.
• Support the onboarding and development of volunteers, offering a welcoming and purposeful experience.

Performance & Cost Management
• Contribute to meeting income and feedback targets set by the Online Manager through quality execution and courageous ownership.
• Ensure dispatch and packaging processes are efficient, compliant, and cost-conscious.
• Monitor supplies and costs at the hub, identifying savings or improvements.
• Keep records up to date and raise issues early to maintain high operational performance.
• Collaboration with Area Manager to achieve area sales Targets and KPI’s

Collaboration & Stock Sourcing
• Build strong relationships with local shops and donation points, acting as a compassionate link between the hub and the wider team.
• Help retail staff identify high-value or suitable items for online sale, making it easy for them to contribute to the Rotor Hub and Blade model.
• Collaborate with the Online Manager on hub promotions, standout items, or seasonal income-driving initiatives.

Compliance & Standards
• Ensure all online operations comply with platform rules, charity retail standards, GDPR, and Health & Safety.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming hub space, demonstrating care and consistency.
• Monitor packaging, labelling, and courier documentation for accuracy and quality.
• Proactively report risks, issues, or safeguarding concerns in line with TAAS procedures—showing courage and responsibility.

• Practical awareness of cost control and fulfilment best practice.
• Confident communicator with good problem-solving instincts.
• Ability to work independently and escalate appropriately.
• Commitment to embedding charity values in day-to-day practice.
Desirable
• Experience supervising volunteers or staff.
• Familiarity with stock control systems or performance reporting.
• Previous charity or second-hand retail experience.
• Knowledge of value in second-hand categories like fashion, books, tech, or collectibles.


Any Other Information
• Based at a regional online hub; occasional travel to local shops or donation sites may be required.
• Flexibility may be required during seasonal campaigns or charity initiatives.

The role is subject to a Basic DBS check.
